hGH Background

On this page, we will explore (in brief) a bit of the background of hGH, Human Growth Hormone, from definition and anatomy to some of its functions within the body.

Human Growth Hormone is a protein based hormone produced by the Anterior Pituitary gland, roughly in the centre of the head.

Made of 191 individual parts, all amino acid building blocks, Human Growth Hormone is ofter referred to as the master hormone of the body. Identified in the middle 20th century, hGH was used in treatment for humans by gathering hGH from cadavers, and later, synthesised in the early 1980s in its most popular pharmaceutical form, recombinant hGH.

A representation of the structure of hGHBalance is critical, and too much hGH led to what is commonly thought of as giantism, over growth of the body's physical structures.  Far from desirable, hGH overproduction leads its sufferers to a host of physical and developmental problems and inevitably early death. When under-produced, physical growth is limited, again with a host of potential health problems.

Well meaning parents often try to source hGH to give their children thinking that it will help them be big and strong. Nothing can be further from the truth. Illegal supplementation of hGH in otherwise hormonally normal kids results in a major upset and disruption to the child's health, inevitably resulting in drastically shortened life expectancy.  Balance is the key.  It always has been.

In the early years, since the hGH was taken from corpses, Creutzfeldt-Jacob Disease came to light in 1985 as transmitted by the transplantation of human derived hGH (CJD is linked to Mad-Cow disease, an irreversible disease of the structure of the brain). Naturally, this is not an issue with the synthetically derived Recombinant Human Growth Hormone; although hormone imbalance and resultant health issues are.

The actual production of hGH is a result of a complex intereaction of many factors. and is regulated in the Hypothalamus, the bit of brain under which the pituitary gland 'hangs'. Deep sleep, caloric limitation, less blood sugar, limitied alcohol and many other factors help the production of hGH. Opposite factors limit it, getting little sleep, eating too much too often, alcohol and other intoxicant all inhibit production.

Over the years, we tend to participate in the suppression of hGH production until the receptors, those bits that hear the stimulation to produce hGH, are essentiall muffled. This is a part of the ageing process. The good news is that these receptrs can be awakened again by good habits and effort. The bad news is that there is no magic pill to do it without effort! None, never, no way! Anything that tells you it can improve your hGH levels safely and without effort is marketing based rubbish that does not take the slightest notice of reality.
